The School of Fine Arts was founded in 2003, with the simultaneous establishment of the Theater Department and is based in Nafplion.

The Department of Theater began its operation with the goals of the scientific study of the theatrical phenomenon and artistic education in the field of theater. The character of its activities is mixed: scientific and artistic, educational and research. The Department of Theater is a place of study and research where theory and practice, science and art, collaborate and complement each other.

The Department of Theater Studies is a university unit that, through its research and educational activity, contributes to the cultural life of Nafplio, builds ties with the city, cultivates innovation and experimentation, and promotes artistic creation and scientific discourse.

The Department of Performing and Digital Arts based in Nafplio has been operating since the academic year 2019-2020, belongs to the School of Fine Arts of the University of Peloponnese and has as its mission:

1. To cultivate and promote knowledge in the scientific, artistic and technological subjects related to the performing arts (Performance, Dance, Theater) as well as the digital arts, with an emphasis on the connection between them as well as the connection with various social applications, the technology and education. Performance, (performance or installation), as par excellence a field of innovation in the arts, is at the center of the artistic, theoretical, technological and methodological courses offered in the Department.
2. To provide students with the necessary supplies that ensure their thorough training, in order to be able to document, analyze and compose artistic works, applications and actions.
3. To provide students with the necessary know-how and familiarity with the use of technology required for artistic applications in the above thematic areas. 

4. To provide special education and training of students for the teaching of artistic subbjects and artistic technological applications in primary and secondary schools as well as in the context of non-formal and informal education.
