Σύντομο Βιογραφικό Σημείωμα

Ο Δρ. Αναστάσιος Δροσόπουλος έλαβε το πτυχίο του (Φυσικός) από το Πανεπιστήμιο Πατρών, Ελλάδα το 1982, και το MSc (Φυσικός) και PhD (Ηλεκτρολόγος Μηχανικός), από το Πανεπιστήμιο McMaster, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, το 1987 και το 1992 αντίστοιχα. Στα πλαίσια της διδακτορικής του διατριβής ανέπτυξε μοντέλα ηλεκτρομαγνητικής σκέδασης σε συχνότητες μικροκυμάτων από ανώμαλες θαλάσσιες επιφάνειες. Τα μοντέλα αυτά εφαρμόστηκαν με κατάλληλη επεξεργασία σήματος σε πειραματικά δεδομένα από την λίμνη Huron με array radar του εργαστηρίου Communications Research Lab, του Πανεπιστημίου McMaster,

 

Από το 1991 έως το 1997, εργάστηκε στο Defense Research Establishment, Ottawa, Canada στην ομάδα Synthetic Aperture Radar, όπου έκανε εφαρμοσμένη έρευνα στους τομείς της μοντελοποίησης μικροκυματικής σκέδασης, διάδοσης και στατιστικής ανίχνευσης από θαλάσσιες επιφάνειες. (sea clutter).

Το 1997 προσελήφθη από την Nortel, Ottawa, όπου εργάστηκε στον τομέα των οπτικών επικοινωνιών, στο σχεδιασμό και ανάπτυξη λογισμικού ψηφιακής επεξεργασίας σήματος για βελτίωση απόδοσης της τεχνολογίας οπτικών ενισχυτών πυκνής πολύπλεξης. Το 1999 επέστρεψε στην Ελλάδα και εργάστηκε στην Atmel Multimedia and Communications, τμήμα Πατρών, σε εφαρμογές ασυρμάτων δικτύων.

Το 2003 διορίστηκε καθηγητής στο ΤΕΙ Δυτικής Ελλάδος (πρώην ΤΕΙ Πατρών) στο τμήμα Ηλεκτρολόγων Μηχανικών. Με τη συγχώνευση του ΤΕΙ στο Πανεπιστήμιο Πελοποννήσου (2019) το τμήμα έγινε Ηλεκτρολόγων Μηχανικών και Μηχανικών Υπολογιστών. Τα ερευνητικά του ενδιαφέροντα συμπεριλαμβάνουν εφαρμογές και μοντελοποίηση συστημάτων επικοινωνιών και ενέργειας.

Dr Anastasios Drosopoulos obtained his BSc (Physics) from the University of Patras Greece in 1982 and the MSc (Physics) and PhD (Electrical and Computer Engineering) from McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada in 1987 and 1992 respectively. In his PhD dissertation he developed electromagnetic scattering models for microwave frequencies from rough sea surfaces. These models were applied with appropriate signal processing to experimental data collected from lake Huron with an array radar of McMaster University’s Communications Research Lab.

From 1991 to 1997 he worked at the Defense Research Establishment, Ottawa, Canada in the Synthetic Aperture Radar group doing applied research in the area of modeling microwave scattering, transmission and statistical detection from sea surfaces (sea clutter).

In 1997 he joined Nortel, Ottawa where he worked in the area of optical communications in the design and development of digital signal processing software to improve performance of dense wavelength multiplexing optical amplifiers. In 1999 he returned to Greece and worked at Atmel Multimedia and Communications, Patras branch, in wireless network applications.

In 2003 he joined the Electrical Engineering Department of TEI of Western Greece (prior TEI of Patras) as a professor. With the amalgamation of TEI with the University of Peloponnese (2019) this became the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. His research interests include modeling and applications of communication and energy systems.
