Introduction

ARCH (Advancing Cultural Heritage) is an innovative intercultural project aimed at enhancing literacy skills and developing cultural and digital literacy among students. By leveraging the cultural identities of various countries and utilizing online applications, ARCH aspires to create a dynamic platform that brings cultural heritage to life in the digital age.

Project Overview

ARCH is designed to utilize mobile technology to effectively disseminate cultural heritage information. The project's primary deliverable is a digital browsing platform optimized for mobile devices. This platform will provide users with access to cultural heritage information, enabling them to explore historical and cultural landmarks with ease.

Aims and Objectives

The main goal of ARCH is to enhance cultural literacy by making information about cultural heritage accessible to a wide audience. The project aims to:

  1. Improve literacy skills among students through engagement with cultural content.
  2. Develop cultural and digital literacy by utilizing online applications.
  3. Foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of cultural heritage across different countries.

Target Group

ARCH is tailored for a diverse audience, including:

  • Educators and students across all educational levels.
  • Cultural heritage information providers.
  • General users who have access to mobile devices or internet-connected desktops.

Platform Features

The ARCH platform presents cultural heritage elements from four countries: Spain, Greece, Italy, and Cyprus. Each country is represented by four cities, and each city features three significant heritage monuments. In total, the app includes information on 16 cities and 46 heritage monuments, providing a comprehensive digital repository of cultural sites.

Technological Integration

Advances in mobile technologies have paved the way for the ARCH project. By supporting mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets, the platform ensures that users can access cultural heritage information on the go. Additionally, the platform is compatible with internet-connected desktops, catering to a broader audience.

Conclusion

The ARCH project represents a significant step forward in the dissemination of cultural heritage information. By integrating mobile technology and digital literacy into the exploration of cultural sites, ARCH not only preserves historical knowledge but also makes it accessible and engaging for a modern audience. This project underscores the importance of cultural education and the role of technology in preserving and promoting cultural heritage.
