How the EUNICE Alliance (European University for Customized Education) transforms the student experience to be showcased at EAIE 2025
EUNICE provides the University of the Peloponnese and its ecosystem opportunities to co-create new international programmes and services
Tripolis, 9 September 2025 – The European Universities Initiative of the European Commission is redefining higher education across the continent through alliances like EUNICE – European University for Customized Education in which the University of the Peloponnese partnered with another 9 universities in Europe. EUNICE will join from 9 to 12 September a record 35 European Universities Alliances at the European Association of International Education (EAIE) 2025 Conference in Gothenburg, showcasing how transnational cooperation is shaping the future of learning and transforming the student experience.
The Annual Conference and Exhibition of EAIE is the most important event dedicated to higher education in Europe and the second largest in the world. The 2025 theme, “Go-Create”, aligns perfectly with EUNICE’s mission: to offer personalized, flexible education pathways that respond to the needs of students, society, and the labour market.
University of the Peloponnese has been instrumental in driving initiatives that connect students and researchers across Europe. Through joint degrees, micro-credentials, virtual mobility and international internships, EUNICE empowers learners to design their own academic journeys while strengthening ties between academia and industry. These efforts are particularly relevant for regional development, ensuring that local talent can thrive in a global context.
Since joining the EUNICE Alliance in November 2023, the University of the Peloponnese has actively participated in a wide range of initiatives, providing meaningful opportunities to students and academic and administrative staff. To date, approximately thirty (30) students and ten (10) faculty and administrative staff members have taken part in physical mobility programs, while around one hundred (100) students have participated in virtual mobility programs.
In addition, more than twenty (20) faculty members have contributed to teaching courses and developing Excellence Programs, which have engaged students from all ten (10) member universities of the alliance. The University has also been involved in various research and student-centered activities, including sports and cultural events, competitions, student clubs, and boards. Finally, it continues to strengthen its internationalization and enhance its educational and research activity, leveraging the opportunities offered by EUNICE to the entire academic community.
At EAIE 2025, EUNICE will locate at booth P145 and share its best practices with institutions worldwide. The alliance’s work demonstrates how European cooperation can boost innovation in universities, open new opportunities for students, and enhance the competitiveness of regions like Peloponnese. As Europe faces rapid technological and social change, alliances like EUNICE are proving that collaboration is the key to building a resilient, future-ready higher education system—one that benefits not only students but also local communities and economies.
Launched in 2019 by the European Commission, the initiative now brings together 65 alliances, and 8 Seal of Excellence alliances, and over 570 institutions, fostering innovation, mobility, and inclusivity in higher education. As part of the programme, FOREU4ALL - the Community of Practice bringing together all European Universities alliances - will host a special joint session with the European Commission on Wednesday, 10 September, from 14:30 to 15:30. This session, aimed at institutions not currently involved in the initiative, will explore how the community’s collective knowledge and tools can benefit the broader higher education sector.
