front from strategin planning 2024-2027
Executive summary

The contemporary social framework of knowledge-based economy, the linkage between innovation and research output and the wider university ecosystem, as well as the traditional role of university degrees as the main drivers of social advancement, dramatically increase the societal demands and expectations on the role that universities should (or are expected to) embrace.

Moreover, factors such as the restrictive fiscal framework in many countries, the ‘invasion’ of technology that became more noticeable during the pandemic, and the increase in ‘competition’ via the development of universities in many countries make it imperative for the University of the Peloponnese to develop a strategy that will respond in a satisfactory manner to the above-mentioned issues.

The present report outlines the state of the art of universities worldwide, describes the evolution of university institutions in Greece, and provides a detailed description of the University of the Peloponnese. Therefore, through the tool of the strategic plan, a SWOT analysis and the main areas of the University’s development between 2024 and 2027 are presented.

Subject to institutional changes and fiscal restraints, the strategic plan of the University of the Peloponnese is recorded in the following directions:

⇢ Upgrade of academic activities.

⇢ Strengthening academic research

⇢ Linkage between society and the labour market - Exploitation of research results.

⇢ Improving internationalization of studies and extroversion.

⇢ Refining the quality of the university environment.

Particular reference is made to the frequent changes in the institutional framework, extroversion and internationalization activities at the University of Peloponnese and the interconnection with the entrepreneurial environment.
