"Innovation Partnerships" at the University of Peloponnese.

 Visit of Mr. Christos Tarantilis. 

On Thursday 23.02.2023, the Strategic Planning Unit of the University of Peloponnese successfully organized an event at the "Antonios Boukouvalas" auditorium, of the School of Management and Technology, with the aim of informing Mr. Christos Tarantilis about the University's innovation projects and partnerships. The event started with a speech by the Rector of the University of Peloponnese, Mr. Athanasios Katsis on the topic: "Innovation and Entrepreneurship Structure of the Peloponnese Region". In this context, the important progress that has been made at the University was presented, as well as the emblematic project of forming five knowledge-intensive entrepreneurship structures, for the practical support of academic research, but also to strengthen its extroversion in the business world. Afterwards, the president of the permanent special Committee for Research and Technology of the Parliament, former Minister, Member of State, Professor Mr. Christos Tarantilis, addressed a greeting. Through the discussion that followed, important issues and conditions emerged for the strengthening of academic research and the utilization of the produced research results, with an emphasis on the need to find executives with knowledge in matters of innovation, but also targeting specific areas of interest, with the cooperation with other public and private bodies of the local ecosystem. At the same time, Professor Spyros Syrmakesis, Scientific Head of the Technology Transfer and Innovation Unit of the University of Peloponnese, developed the actions and actions that have been carried out for the operation of the Unit, as well as the importance of networking with other Technology Transfer Offices, as achieved through the Joint Structure of the University of Peloponnese with the University of Patras. Afterwards, Associate Professor Athanasios Anastasiou, Scientific Manager of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Hub of the University of Peloponnese, developed the management framework and the goals of the Hub. Afterwards, Ms. Eleni Mitsea, NTUA Chemical Engineer and Head of the Entrepreneurship Hub, analyzed the axes of activity, the services provided, as well as the expected results. After the completion of the above presentations, Mr. Tarantilis was informed about the University's research projects which are of business interest, through three sessions. More specifically, the 1st session had the subject of "Informatics Applications" and was attended by the Professors of the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications, Mr. Konstantinos Vassilakis and Mr. Georgios Tsoulos. The 2nd session on "Innovation and Nutrition" was attended by Mr. Ioannis Kapolos, Professor of the Department of Food Science and Technology, Mr. Vasilios Dimopoulos, Associate Professor of the Department of Agriculture, and Mr. Konstantinos Delis, Associate Professor of the Department of Agriculture. Finally, in the 3rd session on "Initiatives in the field of Social Sciences and Humanities", Mr. Nikolaos Zacharias, Professor of the Department of History, Archeology and Cultural Heritage, and Mr. Kyriakos Souliotis, Professor of the Department of Social and Educational Policy, participated. The event ended with an interesting discussion and constructive conclusions on the topics presented.
