
On Monday, 28th of April 2025, the Vice Rector for Administrative Affairs, International Relations and Outreach, Professor Efthalia Chatzigianni, welcomed to the neoclassical building (home of the Tripolitanian poet Kostas Karyotakis) that houses the Rectorate of the University of the Peloponnese in Tripoli, the delegation from HUNAN UNIVERSITY of China, consisting of Professor JIANG Chao, Vice President, Professor WANG Pu, Secretary of the Party Committee for Professional Technology, and Professor ZHOU Jian, Director of the Center for International Studies and the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges. The delegation was accompanied by representatives of the Ministry of Education of Hunan Province, such as Dr. XIA Zhilun, Director General, Dr. PENG Wenke, Director of the Department of Vocational and Adult Education, and Dr. CUI Hengyuan, Director of the General Office of the Department of Education.
From the University of the Peloponnese, in addition to the Vice Rector, the meeting was attended by Mrs. Eleni Karountzou, Deputy Mayor of Culture and Tourism of the Municipality of Tripoli. The meeting focused on the great interest of the Chinese delegation in establishing academic and research relations at all levels, and joint participation in actions that strengthen the ties between the two Universities and the two Countries.
However, beyond the specific scientific subjects discussed, Hunan University, one of the top 10 universities in China, which participates in the university network "World Ancient Universities Alliance", looks forward to interactions, mainly in the modern scientific fields covered by the Schools of Technological Sciences and Applications of the University of the Peloponnese, which the Vice Rectorate fully agreed with, who in turn pledged to contribute in every possible way to opening up new, expanded horizons for the exchange of knowledge and experiences that will be mutually beneficial for the students and Professors, but also for all the citizens of the cities of the Peloponnese, which host the facilities of the Institution. The head of the Municipality of Tripoli, referring in turn to the intercultural encounter between the two Academic Institutions, which she confirmed with her presence, wished that the multifaceted relationship that is developed and cultivated between the University Community and the Local Government be further highlighted through such global collaborations.
This successful event was organized by the International Relations Office of the University of the Peloponnese, represented by Mrs. Paraskevi Haida.
At the end of the meeting, a joint press conference was held, during which the Vice Rector, referring to a number of collaborations that the University of the Peloponnese has been cultivating in recent years, also stated that she was optimistic about the future and the prospects that are opening up, and stated that there are several future plans that are already at the center of her contacts, strengthening collaboration, extroversion, and strengthening relations with other local, national and international bodies.
