Short CV
Marios Athanasopoulos was born in 1973 in Sparta, Greece. He holds a BA from the Department of History and Archaeology of the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens. He completed his PhD dissertation, entitled “Philosophical views of History on the work of the Byzantine historians of the Conquest of the Constantinople (1453)”. He has been employed as a school teacher in secondary education (2004-2018) after being accredited by ASEP. From 2011 to 2014 he taught in the MA program: “Moral Philosophy” and from 2019 to 2021 in the MA program: “Byzantine World: It’s connection to Antiquity and Modern World” both offered by the University of the Peloponnese.  He has authored five books and published numerous papers in journals and conference proceedings. He currently serves as an EDIP (Teaching Staff) at the Department of Philology of the University of the Peloponnese.
 
Scientific Interest:
His research interests and publications include the philosophy of History, teaching of History, Byzantine History at the later Byzantine period, and Modern Greek History, especially of the periods of the Ottoman Empire, the Greek Revolution of 1821 and the 1940s history.
