Απο τον Οκτώβριο του 2016 έως και τον Ιούνιο του 2017 εργάσθηκε ως Ερευνητής στο Τμήμα Οικονομικών Επιστημών του Πανεπιστημίου της Μπολόνια (Bologna, Italy), με συμβολή στην εκπόνηση έρευνας σε θέματα Ενεργειακών και Περιβαλλοντικών Πολιτικών, Πράσινης Καινοτομίας και Επιχειρηματικών Αποφάσεων.
Έχει δημοσιευμένο έργο σε έγκριτα διεθνή περιοδικά (Energy, Energy Economics, Energy policy, Environmental and Resource Economics, Environmental Economics, Annals of operational research, Economic Change and Restructuring, κ.α), τα οποία περιλαμβάνονται σε διεθνείς λίστες ποιότητας (AJG, ADBC, Scopus κ.α.), καθώς επίσης έχει συγγράψει βιβλία, συμμετάσχει σε συλλογικούς τόμους και επιμεληθεί συγγράμματα, σε διεθνείς (Springer, Palgrave) και ελληνικούς εκδοτικούς οίκους. Είναι μέλος στο editorial board των περιοδικών Energy Systems (Springer) & Operations Research Forum (Springer) και κριτής σε αρκετά διεθνή περιοδικά της ειδικότητας του

Thomas Alexopoulos holds a PhD in Economic Science, which he received with distinction and a full scholarship throughout his studies from the A.G. Leventis Foundation (Zurich, Switzerland). He also holds MSc degrees in Energy from Heriot-Watt University (Edinburgh, UK) and in Economic Analysis from the University of Peloponnese. Additionally, he holds a Diploma in Engineering (M.Eng) from the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens, specializing in Energy Systems and Management and Decision Systems.
Since December 2024, he has been an Associate Professor in Energy and Environmental Economics at the Department of Economics, University of Peloponnese, where he has taught at the undergraduate level (Applied Mathematics for Economists I & II, Energy Finance, Economics of Natural Resources and the Environment, Project Management) and at the postgraduate level (Decision Models in Business and Macroeconomics, Methods of Business Program Evaluation and Modern Risk Management Products, Energy Markets and Energy Security, Markets and Derivatives Products). He has also taught at the postgraduate level at the Athens University of Economics and Business and Panteion University. From 2018 to 2024 he was Assistant Professor in the same department. Also from 2017 to 2020, he was an adjunct Professor at EAP in the Economics of Technical Projects. He is the Scientific Director of the E-Cube Lab - Energy, Environment and Economics and the departmental focal point for the Erasmus+ European Scholarship Programme.
From October 2016 to June 2017, he worked as a Researcher at the Department of Economics at the University of Bologna (Bologna, Italy), contributing to research on Energy and Environmental Policies, Green Innovation, and Business Decisions.
Since 2018, he has represented the University of Peloponnese as the Institutional Officer of the United Nations Sustainable Development Network (United Nations SDSN).
He has published work in prestigious international journals (Energy, Energy Economics, Energy Policy, Environmental and Resource Economics, Environmental Economics, Annals of Operational Research, Economic Change and Restructuring, etc.), which are included in international quality lists (AJG, ADBC, Scopus, etc.). He has also authored books, participated in edited volumes, and edited books in international (Springer, Palgrave) and Greek publishing houses. He is a member of the editorial board of Energy Systems (Springer) and Operations Research Forum (Springer) and a reviewer for several international journals in his field of expertise.
He is a Research Fellow at the international research organization Research Centre for Economic Analysis (RCEA).
