
Professor Efthalia (Elia) Chatzigianni is the Vice-Rector of Administrative Affairs, International Relations, and Outreach, and teaches at the Department of Sport Organization and Management of the School of Human Movement and Quality of Life Sciences at the University of the Peloponnese. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of the European University Alliance EUNICE.
She serves as the coordinator of the Child’s Right Center at the University of the Peloponnese.
She holds a degree in Sociology from Panteion University of Social & Political Sciences, Athens, Greece, a Master’s degree in International Politics from Université Libre de Bruxelles in Belgium, and a PhD in International and European Studies from Panteion University. She speaks four languages fluently and has working knowledge of two more.
She is the author of two books, has published in numerous international conferences and journals, and has published book chapters in English, Greek, French, and German. She has also taught in various undergraduate and postgraduate academic programs in Greece and abroad. Among other activities, she has been actively involved with the European Parliament and has participated in the organization of several international sports events, including three Olympic Games (1996, 2002, and 2004).
Her academic and research interests primarily focus on governance, lobbying and interest groups, sustainable development, intercultural communication, international sport, and sport policy.
As a former State Scholarship Foundation (IKY) scholarship recipient, she has firsthand experience of the importance of the European Erasmus Programme and strives to offer equal and expanded mobility opportunities to all students and staff members at the University of the Peloponnese.
